Sony BRAVIA KDL-46XBR4 46″ LCD HDTV Review
HDTVSolutions asked:
When displaying high definition material, the BRAVIA KDL-46XBR4 conspicuously showcases all of Sony’s video processing prowess. But what endears this HDTV to me is how well it handles mundane standard def material and backs it up with a rather impressive integrated sound system. This solid all terrain performance makes it stand out in the HDTV crowd.

just what i was thinking..
Can that guy be any more exciting?
good tv
i think Sony is better than Saumsung LG
Just got the 40 inch version of this TV and it’s beautiful! Very nice looking TV to have in your living room if you can source one. The glass edges really make it stand out from other LCD Tv’s I’ve looked at. Was going to get a Samsung 6 Series but fell in love with this.
that sony tv looks great! but have not seen it before home in sweden… can you buy this tv anywhere?
Hi, Im debating on getting a 40xbr4 or 40xbr6 but is the price diffrence worth it? Is there a big increase in PQ? Also what do you think of 32xbr6
Thankyou sir I saw last years model and thought it was great and everyone who has bought or seen the a950 has raved about it. CNET just called it the best LCD tv to date and said it has the most accurate color of any LCD ever and as good as the best Plasma. I can’t wait to see one.
I really need to get these TVs in for review before I can say anything definite. Seeing them for a few minutes on a convention floor is not a good basis for judging them.
But I’m sure that you will be happy with the 950.
I was going to get the XBR8 but I simply can’t justify spending 5,000 on a 46 inch tv I’m so young it takes me a whole year to save up for everything I’d rather get a nice set of speakers and a receiver than a marginal bump up in PQ. I’m sure the Sony is worth the cost as they always make quality products and because of its tri-color LED’s it will last an extremely long time probably 15+ years so over the lifetime it would be worth it but I’ll probably get a new tv every 10 years.
Mr. DeYoung was the Samsung a950 as detailed on blu-ray and regular content as the XBR4 you reviewed? I have never seen a tv as sharp as this one. Also how did the XBR8 look. Thanks a lot.
I just saw the 950 and the new Sony XBR8 with local dimming, both are great choices for deep black LCDs.
If your looking for higher end Plasma Black Level and motion handling on an LCD look no farther than the brand new Samsung a950. It has local dimming and an LED backlight and has much deeper black levels than any other LCD and in some cases it reaches perfect black when the screen fades to black completely. In regard to content it has a slightly deeper black than the Panasonic 8OOU (successor of the 700u) I finally decided my first big tv will be the 46 inch Samsung a950 in a couple months.
what do u think of the samsung series 6? i like the 120mhz. and samsung is cheaper. what do u think between the sony 120mhz and samsung version?
dude if u want a really good tv just get a xbr6 37″
To your question about Bravia-I have a 52xbr4
and it performs well with gaming and high def movies-although i recomennd u buy from a local elect store-i went through 2 52 before i had a good one(clouding problem in dark scenes)it’s well worth it
Have you seen the new Panny plasmas yet? I purchased the new PZ800. The only other choice at my price range was the Pioneer PDP-4280XD. Do you think i’ve made the right choice?
I really love watching and reading your reviews sir you have a great personality and talk very well and its obvious you flat out know your stuff. In my opinion there is no better person doing this anywhere on the net you are just so easy to listen to and I really trust what you say. I will remain an HDTV Solutions TV fan for many years to come and I will remain a fan of you sir.

Dam. I have a Panasonic Plasma and its amazing like LCD’s lovers wouldnt believe. But becuase i am an avid gamer, i am considering selling my plasma and buying a Bravia. Any who owns a Bravia, please tell me the truth. Whats it like for gaming? And how bad is the lag for fast paced action scenes in movies?
lol bud if u move ur head left to right everything moves quick doesnt it, so that prob. it
is it normal, when i watch a blu ray movie, when things move quickly its like blury, for exmaple in iam legend when will smits runs, its all blury around him,but when he doesnt move the picture is perfect ???
Two reasons.
First, if you have a home media server or network, you can plug your TV in directly to it and play back any photos, movies or songs that you have on your computer.
Second, some TVs - like some of the new Sonys have an interface where you can access the Internet directly through your TV allowing you to stream content like RSS feeds.

why would a tv need an ethernet port?
I have that tv in 42″” and is not the much one, Samsung is seen a lot better
no samsung dont make things for sony. sony use their own panels. they simply come out of the same building. in no way shape or form are the parts the same. simply the same building.. 2 separate manufacturing lines. however i agree samsung is better. sony’s whites are too yellow and un natural. samsung doesnt have the picture depth of the sony though.
we have a samsung 42″ lcd for over 2 years now and it no longer works due to the power board went out. samsung tv sucks! i’m now looking into buying the sony kdl-46xbr4.
