What is the best resolution for my HDTV as a monitor?

If your graphics card has a DVI port, how about using a DVI-to-HDMI cable to connect your computer to the TV?
When I hooked up my Mac Mini to a 52-inch Bravia LCD HDTV using a DVI-to-HDMI cable, it automatically detected the native resolution and filled the screen completely all the way to the edge (using the Bravia’s “full pixel” screen setting, no overscan.)
